Fees Associated with Buying a Vessel

It can be scary and confusing when trying to buy a vessel and many customers worry about hidden fees. These are the fees associated with buying a vessel and this is what Dean Yacht Company charges. Everything is upfront and we are here to help you get into the yacht of your dreams.

  1. Coast Guard Documentation:  If you want document your vessel, Dean Yacht Company can do this for you. The fee is $950 If you choose not to put a documented vessel into your name there will be a $200 Fee to remove the vessel documentation from the previous owner. 
  2. Processing Fees:  This is an administrative fee and is $595.  These covers registering your vessel with Maryland.
  3. Out of state Registration: If you are buying a vessel that is registered in the State of MD, and you will be taking this vessel to another state and used principally in that state, there is still a $595.00 fee for the paperwork associated with this.   
  4. Maryland Sales Tax:  Maryland charges a 5% sales tax on the sales price or it is capped at $15,700.00.  We will collect this and as part of the processing fee.
